Gophers Sign 2 To Letters Of Intent For Basketball
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota men's basketball team has signed Hopkins guard Joe Coleman and Memphis guard Andre Hollins to national letters of intent.
The Golden Gophers announced the signings on Wednesday.
Coleman is a 6-foot-4 slasher who averaged 24.7 points a game last year as a junior to lead the Royals to the big-school state title. He is the younger brother of former Gophers forward Dan Coleman.
Hollins is a 6-foot-2 point guard who averaged 15.2 points last year for White Station High School. Coach Tubby Smith says Hollins' speed and quick hands are his greatest assets.
The Gophers open the regular season on Friday against Wofford.
