Gopher Women Beat RIT, Advance To Frozen Four
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota women's hockey team beat RIT 6-2 Saturday at Ridder Arena to earn a trip to the Frozen Four.
It will be the Gophers' 11th appearance in the national semifinals. Minnesota (32-3-4) had a 3-1 lead after the first period and was never threatened the rest of the game.
The Gophers were led by Hannah Brandt and Kate Schipper, who each had three points in the victory. Milica McMillen, Schipper and Rachel Ramsey scored first-period goals for Minnesota.
Minnesota will be joined at the Frozen Four by Wisconsin, Boston College and Harvard. The Gophers will face the Badgers Friday, with the winner advancing to play the Boston College/Harvard winner Sunday for the national championship.
