Gopher Basketball Adds Jordan Murphy To 2015 Recruiting Class
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) — Minnesota has added San Antonio prep star Jordan Murphy to its 2015 recruiting class.
Golden Gophers coach Richard Pitino announced the addition Wednesday. Murphy is a 6-foot-7 forward and averaged 23.6 points and 10.5 rebounds for Brennan High School. He was named most valuable player in his district and is the sixth player to join the Gophers class.
Murphy originally committed to Virginia Commonwealth. But he reopened his recruitment after coach Shaka Smart left the school for Texas.
Indiana and Boston College were among the other schools Murphy was considering.
The Gophers have one spot left in their class.
He will join a freshman class that includes Kevin Dorsey, Ahmad Gilbert, Dupree McBrayer and Minneapolis native Jarvis Johnson along with Illinois State transfer Reggie Lynch. Minnesota is coming off an 18-15 season that included a 6-12 record in Big Ten Conference play.
