Good To Know: The Green, Grand, Google
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There is interesting news out of Wall Street. Google, the internet search engine, blew past all projections and drove stocks higher than expected. Don Shelby says Google and its kind may become more powerful than we can imagine.
They are young, the people who make the big decisions for Google. It now plans to go even bigger into renewable energy with its first purchase of a wind farm of the East coast.
This is good news for those who support private enterprise over government incentives. This business is about leading, and the followers are mostly young.
That bodes well for the future. Liberals believe there is a role for government to set a renewable energy policy and conservatives want a renewable energy economy to grow only if it is viable in a free market. That is, if people want it.
Is it possible that one day, fearless young people will run a business so influential that it empowers people to choose, therefore requiring government to follow the people? Isn't that the way it is supposed to work?
