Good Samaritan Rescues Woman From Pond In Rogers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 45-year-old woman was rescued by a good Samaritan Monday afternoon after her car went off the road and plunged into a holding pond in the northwest Twin Cities metro, according to police.
Rogers Police said the incident happened just after 4 p.m. Monday on eastbound Interstate 94 near Highway 241 between Rogers and St. Michael. Authorities said the vehicle went off the road, under a fence and about 200 yards down an embankment before it ended up in the frigid waters of a holding pond.
Police said the car started to sink in about six feet of water before a passing motorist pulled over to help. The man ran to the pond and swam to the vehicle before getting the victim to shore. The woman was checked out for possibly hypothermia at the scene.
The good Samaritan left the scene before medical personnel arrived to treat the woman. Authorities said what led up to the driver losing control of the vehicle and what caused it to go so far off the highway is under investigation.
