Going To Green Bay? Do Your Homework First
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you're heading to Green Bay this weekend for the Wild Card playoff game, you'll want to get your plans set now.
Hotels are filling up and tickets are selling fast, and the Vikings are offering a package deal for fans making the trek across the border.
WCCO took a look at what it might cost if you plan it all out yourself.
Vikings fan Nic Gerhardson and his five friends are heading to Saturday's playoff game.
"It's about a five hour drive, roughly," he said. "(We'll) try to get there about noon or 1 p.m., get set up, take it all in," Gerhardson said.
Gerhardson and his friends will be staying just outside of Green Bay. It's a good move considering rates in town are high for game weekend, and rooms are filling up.
"It was around the $250 range," Gerhardson said.
There are still rooms in outlying towns like Appleton, for under $100.
Then of course, there's getting to the game. Driving is almost certainly going to be the most economical way to go.
Round-trip flights on Delta leaving Friday or Saturday are running between about $900 and $1,300 per person. The discount sites are not much better.
To calculate the cost to drive, you can go to AAA's fuelgauge.com -- a free tool will help you figure it out based on the kind of car you drive.
The Vikings are offering a travel package with Sun Country airlines.
A chartered flight will take you to Green Bay Saturday afternoon and bring you back that night after the game.
The cost is $300 for coach and $500 for first class -- the package does not include game tickets.
