Goin' To The (Frozen) Lake: Frank & Chris Visit Bemidji (Day 2)
BEMIDJI, Minn. (WCCO) – It's the time of year when 'CCOers get out of downtown Minneapolis and head out to ice-covered lakes.
This week, Frank Vascellaro and Chris Shaffer headed up to Bemidji, home of the giant Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox statues, for the start of Winterfest.
Winterfest On Lake Bemidji is the city's annual event that celebrates all things winter. The festival begins Friday Feb. 6 and goes through Saturday, Feb. 7. There will be curling, cornhole and even the Brrrmidji Plunge.
Before the celebration kicked off, Frank and Chris got to check out some of other Bemidji staples.
Frank and Chris started the day out right with breakfast at the Minnesota Nice Cafe. Lots of you emailed WCCO and said we had to try the pancakes -- and Frank and Chris loved them. In fact, a food reviewer for the LA times called them the best pancakes he's ever had.
But don't think you're going to get the recipe. Frank and Chris tried, but owner Jeanette Proulx told them it is a very guarded secret that she won't share with anyone!

Now if all this outdoor stuff isn't really your thing -- there's lots to do inside in Bemidji as well.
Chris got to wear a snake around his neck at the Headwaters Science Center in downtown Bemidji, where the guys found lots of kids checking out all the cool things going on there.
And who doesn't love a good meal? Your emails recommended that we check out Tutto Bene -- and it did not disappoint Frank and Chris.
