Girl, 13, Dies In Crash Near Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (WCCO) -- Another deadly crash was reported near Alexandria on Monday evening, not long after four college students were killed in a head-on crash along Interstate 94 near the city.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened near County Road 82 and Town Hall Road at about 6:15 p.m.
An Oldsmobile van traveling eastbound on County Road 82 was involved in a crash with a Chevrolet Trail Blazer traveling in the opposite direction.
A 13-year-old passenger in the van, Megan Carlson, was pronounced dead of her injuries at a nearby hospital.
Her mother, 40-year-old Kristy Carlson, was driving the vehicle. She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the other vehicle, 38-year-old Erin McCoy, was taken to Douglas County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities believe snowy weather was a contributing factor in the crash.
