Get The Best Taste Out Of Your Leftovers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- That big Thanksgiving meal may be over, but now it's time for leftovers. You have to be careful, too, because all that meat and gravy has a shelf life.
Buca di Beppo chef David Burinton has some tips on what to do with those leftovers.
"When you have all the bones, you kind of want to make soup, little celery, little onions, little garlic, add some chicken stock in," said Burinton. "As for those leftover potatoes, they make great potato pancakes."
Burinton said if you want to reheat your thanksgiving leftovers, you need to hit 165 degrees. You also need to keep foods cool at 40 degrees or less and all food only lasts 2 to 3 days in the fridge.
You can always freeze leftovers, but Chef Burinton says if you do that, make sure you thaw the food out in the fridge for 24 hours. That will help it taste best when you reheat it to 165.
