Nancy Ngo from the St. Paul Pioneer Press presented some fabulous finds in the month of February. Ngo says this year two holidays in February that usually generate a lot of sales are back to back. You have Valentine's Day on Sunday, Feb. 14, followed by Presidents' Day the very next day.
As a result, savvy shoppers can take advantage Valentine's Day clear-out and Columbus Day weekend sales that are all happening around that time.
Gifts That Indulge
Chocolates, jewelry and perfume -- retailers stock up on these popular Valentine's Day gifts to gear up for the holiday. Post-Valentine's, you'll see a steep drop by as much as 60 to 85 percent off on these types of items as retailers look to whittle down their supply. Of course don't skimp when it comes to spoiling your Valentine's Day date. But it's a good time to treat yourself after the holiday, especially when stocking up on luxury gift items such as artisan chocolates, high-end jewelry and designer perfumes.
Home Furniture And Bedding
Presidents' Day results in a three-day weekend filled with big sales. This is also the time of year when there are already existing markdowns on home items, especially in the bedding and furniture departments. Already marked down items combined with President's Day sales means discounts as much as 80 percent off.
Winter Apparel
Outerwear such as jacket and boots, not to mention other seasonal apparel such as sweaters, are already on clearance this time of the year as retailers look to make way for spring inventory. Again, it's all about timing. Couple this with Presidents' Day sales and deals for such items are at some of their best deals all year.

While we're on the subject of winter gear, it's also a great time to nab those skis or snowboards you've had your eye on. Presidents' Day is typically seen as the close of the season for resorts. Retailers know there isn't as much of an audience in the coming months, so items such as skis and snowboards are discounted by as much as 60 percent.

February is typically seen as a low travel season. The holidays are over and spring break doesn't start until March. As an incentive to travel in February, deals on everything from flights to hotels are being offered at some of the best rates you'll see all year round. So it's a great time to book ahead.
