Get A Jump On Holiday Toy Shopping Now
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you think now is too soon to start think about the holiday shopping season, tell that to retailers. There are less than 300 days left to think about what to buy.
They've already scouted the latest and greatest toys at the largest toy fair in the Western Hemisphere -- Toy Fair in New York City.
These toys are often not available for sale, but can give store owners ideas about filling their shelves for the holidays.
A team from Creative Kidstuff brought back a few prototypes from the fair to show WCCO-TV, and CEO Roberta Bonoff tipped us to some new trends.
Among the toys that could potentially become the hot new thing later this year include toys to use with smartphones, if you feel comfortable putting your iPhone inside a big foam ball and tossing it around.
Also popular these days, green toys (not the color, but ecologically-speaking). For instance, Eco Eggs boast "100 percent renewable content."
Beyond green, though, neon colors are also proving to be a strong selling point this year, according to Bonoff.
