Generosity Gets MN Military Couple To Pres. Inaugural Ball For Free
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Twin Cities soldier and his wife are preparing for the President's Inaugural Ball.
Staff Sgt. Dan Westby is one of only two Minnesota soldiers invited to Washington D.C. for the event.
Despite the invitation, he and his wife, Kari, weren't sure they were going to make the trip.
They couldn't afford to get airline tickets at the last minute.
But since WCCO first aired a story about the couple on Friday night, many have reached out wanting to help.
And that includes Sun Country Airlines, which is going to fly the Westbys to Washington D.C. for free.
Staff Sgt. Westby has served in the National Guard for 16 years and received a bronze star.
