Gay Marriage Supporters Launch Statewide Ad Campaign
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Supporters of gay marriage launched a statewide television ad campaign Monday to pressure Minnesota lawmakers for a vote this year.
Minnesota lawmakers are on spring break this week, back home in their districts with their families and their constituents.
That's why Minnesotans United launched its latest campaign ads.
Two ads are running -- One we saw during the election year, before Minnesotans voted against a ban on gay marriage.
The second is a new ad featuring a couple from Duluth, Minn. who say they want their son to have the same right to marry as his siblings -- without having to go somewhere else.
"We're really looking forward to the weddings of our two children, who are allowed to be married. But just wishing that somehow, someday down the road that we could let our son Kyle have that choice, too," the ad states. "He shouldn't have to go to Canada or the east coast or some other state. He's from Minnesota."
You'll be seeing both ads quite a bit in the next week.
Minnesotans United say it is a six-figure ad buy.
The idea to get voters back home talking about it, and pressuring lawmakers for a vote this year.
