She has helped lead teams to three conference titles and eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 1996 as an assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin. She was also named the Atlantic Sun Conference Coach of the Year twice while a head coach at Central Florida.
As a head coach, Striegler has more than 200 career wins. She recorded 96 wins over seven seasons at LIW-Brooklyn, including a pair of seasons with at least 20 wins.
"It is a tremendous honor to be joining Coach Marlene's staff and the University of Minnesota family," Striegler said in a statement. "Coach Marlene is one of the most dynamic head coaches in the country. I love how passionate she is about her players being successful on the court, as well as her commitment to their success off the court. She is molding future leaders. It is also exciting to be competing in an elite conference like the Big Ten where the best of the best come to play every night. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and I am thrilled to be joining the Gopher family."
