Funeral This Week For MN Marine Killed In Afghanistan
SHAKOPEE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Funeral services have been set for the Minnesota Marine killed in Afghanistan last week during his first tour of duty.
Lance Cpl. Dale Means, 23, was killed on Nov. 18 by an improvised explosive device in southern Helmand province. Means was deployed to Afghanistan in July.
A service will take place at the Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Lake in St. Patrick on Wednesday morning. There will be a visitation at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bruzek Funeral Home.
Means obituary states that full military honors will be conducted at the service.
Means graduated from New Prague High School in 2007 and married his wife Andrea, also a 2007 New Prague graduate, in October 2011. The couple lived off-base at Camp Lejeune, N.C., where Means was stationed.
Means enlisted in the Marines about two years ago. His sister says he "wanted to do something important in his life."
