Funeral For MIT Student From Minn. Found Dead
REDWOODS FALLS, Minn. (WCCO/AP) -– A funeral service will be held Saturday in Minnesota for a 21-year-old student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found dead in his dorm room this week.
As reported by WBZ-TV in Boston, the body of Brian G. Anderson, a junior, was found in his room at the Next House dorm on Monday afternoon. Anderson was an active member of the MIT wrestling team.
MIT officials said that there's "no strong indication" that Anderson, a native of Redwood Falls, Minn., committed suicide.
"If people you know seem upset or distracted or stressed, please reach out," said Chancellor Eric Grimson. "Luckily we have good peers and they always help each other."
Grimson said that despite Anderson's death, there is "no imminent danger to the MIT community."
Mass. state police and the Middlesex County District Attorney's office are investigating.
Two other MIT students died earlier this school year. Freshman Satto Tonegawa died in October, and sophomore Nicolas E. Del Castillo died in September.
