Funeral Arrangements Being Made In MN For 8 Killed In TX Home
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Funeral arrangements are underway in a small, southeastern Minnesota town for eight family members killed in their Houston, Texas home earlier this month.
Pastor Gregg Nelson of La Crescent United Methodist Church says the bodies were transported to La Crescent because the last surviving sibling is a La Crescent resident. Thursday's funeral is expected to draw hundreds from across the country.
Nelson says all the training in the world doesn't prepare a pastor for something of this magnitude.
He's presided over funerals involving deaths with accidents, but never a homicide like this. He says he never had eight caskets in a service before, which he expects will be an emotionally-devastating sight for everyone.
Nelson says other pastors from the area are volunteering their time at Wednesday's visitation and Thursday's funeral for anyone in need of counseling.
The family members were each shot in the head by the mother's ex- boyfriend, who is in a Texas jail charged with capital murder.
