Fugitive Sex Offender Caught In Roseville
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) -- A convicted sex offender who fled a St. Paul halfway house is in jail after more than a month as a fugitive.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections says 42-year-old Eugene Glaraton was taken into custody about 1 p.m. Wednesday in Roseville. He's being held in the Ramsey County Jail.
Authorities learned Glaraton was in an apartment complex and apprehended him there.
The Corrections Department says Glaraton cut off his electronic ankle bracelet and disappeared from the halfway house Feb. 20, just days after his release from the state prison in Lino Lakes.
Glaraton had been incarcerated for failing to register as a sex offender, his second such conviction since 2007. He was convicted in 1987 of raping and fondling a 15-year old boy.
