Friends Of Allegedly Murdered Teacher Hold 5k Run
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 5k walk and run was held Saturday to honor a popular special education teacher who was allegedly murdered in October.
Tim Larson, a 43-year-old teacher at St. Michael in Albertville, was found dead at his rural home in Burbank Township on Oct. 8.
According to authorities, 81-year-old Delbert Hubert called police to say he had shot and killed a man.
Officers said Hubert's son, Timothy, was in the house at the time of the shooting.
The two were arrested and charged with Larson's murder.
Photojournalist Brad Earley captured the walk Larson's friends and family organized to remember him. Earley's video can be seen above.
Eric Simon, who walked Saturday, said he came out because "it's important for the community to show support."
If found guilty of second-degree murder, both Delbert and Timothy Hubert could face up to 40 years in prison.
Organizers said they are making the 5K an annual event as a way to continue to honor Larson. Donations can still be made to help Larson's family at any Wells Fargo bank.
