Sewage Leaks Into Mississippi River
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A leak in a sewer pipe in Fridley that runs along the banks of the Mississippi River and was sending approximately 500 to 1,000 gallons of sewage into the river per minute at around 2 p.m. Thursday, officials said.
That figure is an estimate and the flow has slowed.
Bonnie Kollodge of the Metropolitan Council said signage is being put up around the area urging boaters and swimmers to stay away.
The spill was reported to other agencies, such as the DNR, the MPCA and the MN Department of Health.
