Frazier Says Peterson Won't Play In Preseason
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Tuesday that running back Adrian Peterson will not play in the preseason as he continues to come back from offseason knee surgery.
Peterson was removed from the physically unable to perform list last week and started practicing in pads, but hasn't taken any physical contact yet. He could've returned as early as Friday's third preseason game against the San Diego Chargers at the Metrodome, but Frazier said Tuesday he's being held back as a precautionary measure.
There have been no setbacks in Peterson's recovery, Frazier said, but he wants to exercise patience and caution with his star running back.
Peterson has been ahead of schedule in resuming football activities since his surgery to repair a torn ACL and MCL last year. The Vikings open the season Sept. 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. All indications are that Peterson will be ready, but no decision will be made for some time.
