Home Designed By Frank Lloyd Wright On Sale In St. Louis Park
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A rare architectural masterpiece is up for sale.
One of the few surviving Minnesota houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is on the market in St. Louis Park, a Minneapolis suburb.
Wright designed the house in the late 1950s for a Minnesota family who has lived there for 56 years.
The house, on a secluded wooded cul-de-sac, has Wright's signature low-slung roof of brick and glass built into a hill.
The 2,600-square-foot house includes Wright's trademark brick walls, high ceilings, red concrete floors and a wall of windows overlooking 2 1/2 acres of nature.
It has a look of simplicity which appears modern still today.

"There's no reason to be changing things up, based on how styles are changing today," said realtor Chad Larsen, of the Berg Larsen Group with Coldwell Banker Burnet. "There's nothing to change."
The three-bedroom house includes original built-ins Wright designed himself, something he often did to make sure the home's contents matched his vision.
The built-ins include a living room sofa, desk, stools, a dining room table and a wood chandelier above it.
"You have furniture here that was designed by Frank Loyd Wright," Larsen said. "It's remarkable."
Unlike most Wright designed homes, this one includes a basement.
The famous architect opposed it, but the young parents insisted, and raised four children in what is now a rare architectural masterpiece.
"It is not a museum," said Larsen. "It's a home."
The Wright house is on the market for about $1.5 million, one of only nine surviving houses in Minnesota by the famed architect.
