Forum Discusses Legalization Of Marijuana In Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Representatives from health care, education and law enforcement got together in Dakota County to discuss the debate around legalizing marijuana.
The forum was held to discuss the dangers of the controlled substance.
And looked at laws being passed across the country authorizing the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes.
"Marijuana is not a medicine. It is a dangerous and addictive drug. It causes a great deal of harm to our society. And it will be more widely used. And there will be more harm that occurs," said James Backstrom, Dakota County Attorney.
There has been bi-partisan support in the Minnesota legislature for legalizing medical marijuana.
But Gov. Mark Dayton has said he opposes such a law, as long as police officials are against it.
