Former WCCO Radio Host Brad Walton Dies
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Former WCCO Radio host Brad Walton has passed away. He was 60 years old.
Walton spent about 11 years at WCCO as a weekend overnight and fill-in host. He died on Friday.
Walton was a fixture on late-night Twin Cities radio. He spent time at KTIS and KEEY and KSTP-FM before coming to WCCO Radio in 1997. Walton loved being on WCCO and enjoyed his "conversations with you," the listeners.
In 2004, Walton wrote a book called, "How Does the Heart Know Love," a personal story about his transformation following open-heart surgery. One of Walton's favorite memories of WCCO was following the 35W bridge collapse.
Walton spent hours in the newsroom doing debriefs with media all over the world, including Anderson Cooper on CNN, MSNBC and the BBC in London and Australia. Walton left WCCO Radio in 2008.
Walton is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marlene; children Sharalee and David and his mother, Marlene. The memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Heights Lutheran Church in Roseville.
