Former Twin Jack Morris Denied Election To Hall Of Fame
NEW YORK (WCCO/AP) -- Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas have been elected to baseball's Hall of Fame, while Craig Biggio fell just short.
The results were announced Wednesday.
Former Minnesota Twins pitcher Jack Morris didn't receive enough votes and was denied an election to the hall of fame from the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Morris, who helped the Twins win a World Series, received just 61.5 percent of the votes for election. Players must get a minimum of 75 percent to be inducted. It was his final year on the ballot, but he'll be eligible again in three years from the expansion-era committee.
Maddux, Glavine and Thomas will be inducted in Cooperstown on July 27 along with managers Bobby Cox, Joe Torre and Tony La Russa, elected last month by the expansion-era committee.
