Former Navy Man This Week's 'Just 4 You' Parent
ST. MICHAEL, Minn. (WCCO) — Each week, WCCO This Morning is rewarding a hard-working, dedicated parent who loves what they do.
This time, Holly Wagner went to St. Michael to honor a deserving husband and father of three.
Justin Fair was expecting to take his daughter Hayden to the doctor when we showed up.
Justin's wife Angi says he's the hardest working man she knows. He works 12-hour overnight shifts as a mechanical technician at least five, sometimes six days a week to provide for his family.
Even with his busy schedule his son says he always finds time for him.
"He's a good dad and he helps me out with my homework a lot," said Easton, who is 9 years old. Alexis is about to turn 5, and Hayden is four months.
Since Justin got out of the Navy, finding work hasn't been easy.
"The biggest thing is the insecurity of the job market, not knowing when you're going to lose your job," said Justin. "That security I had in the military is no longer there. You worry about that."
"He recently got out about a year ago, came home and took a really long time to find a job, he ended up losing his job and he got another job, but during the whole time he remained positive and was the family's rock," said Angi.
Justin didn't want to take the credit. He says his wife is the real backbone of this family.
"At much as she says I'm the rock, she's the one. She's at home taking care of the kids while I'm trying to provide for the family," said Justin. "She's the one who keeps it all together for me."
Justin won a free pizza every month for a year from Papa Murphy's. His wife says it's his favorite pizza place.
Each week, WCCO selects a new Just 4 You Parent, so keep those entries coming. You can nominate a deserving parent, grandparent or guardian online.
