Former Gopher, Journeyman Jordan Leopold Returns
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Wild play the hottest team in the NHL tonight, as the Blues have won five in a row since getting former Gopher Jordan Leopold in a trade with Buffalo.
The Xcel Energy Center brings back a lot of good memories for Leopold, who, since leaving Minnesota, has called a lot of different places "home."
"One of the trainers asked me this morning how many times I've played in this building -- it's gotta be mid-teens," Leopold said. "It's always an honor to come home."
In 10 years in the league, he's been traded six times.
"It's harder on the family than anybody," he said. "Everybody concentrates on the hockey player, but I'm a normal individual like anyone else. I have three kids, and I have a pregnant wife."
The family will stay in Buffalo, 750 miles from St. Louis, until the season and school year ends.
"Things have been happening so fast around here that I haven't had real time to think about that stuff, which is good," he said. "But back in Buffalo it's probably a different story with my wife and kids, a house for sale -- all that kind of stuff."
It's hard, but make no mistake, this latest move is a welcome one. He's in a good situation now, on a winning team.
"We've been winning hockey games, which makes everything a lot easier," he said.
