Former Eagan Coach Cleared Of Swindling $30K
HASTINGS, Minn. (WCCO) - A former Eagan coach was cleared of six felony counts of theft by swindle in a Dakota County court Friday.
Kurt Bruce Virgin, 61, was accused in May 2012 of swindling Independent School District 196 of almost $30,000, according to the Dakota County Attorney's office.
All six counts were dismissed on Friday.
Virgin had worked during the summers as a coach at two basketball camps and one soccer camp.
According to the criminal complaint, the secondary education director for District 196 told police that Virgin had families pay him registration fees instead of the district. Virgin was also accused of giving the district only a portion of fundraising money.
Virgin did plead guilty Friday to one charge of misdemeanor curfew violation at a park with no permit.
