Cold Forecast Blamed For Keeping Vikings Playoff Ticket Prices Low
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There were some dicey moments during Sunday night's Vikings-Packers game.
Still, the Vikes came through and the team will be hosting a playoff game Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium against Seattle.
Tickets for the Vikings first home playoff game since 2009 are actually going for less money than you would expect.
There are plenty of tickets available on the secondary market, and tickets are relatively cheap.
At Ticket King, there are tickets in the $70 range.
"The cold weather is preventing it from being $200 to get in the door," Ticket King owner Mike Nowakowski said.
How cold is it supposed to be Sunday?
"Sunday looks to be the coldest day of the season so far," WCCO-TV forecaster Kylie Bearse said.
With a forecasted high of 12 and wind chills of zero, some fans are choosing to stay home.
Season ticket holder Donna Wordelman, however, is not.
"We're prepared for it," she said. "We are prepared for it...I will forever be loyal to my Vikes."
WCCO-TV compared prices on the secondary market for other playoff games, and in many cases, Vikings tickets are several hundred dollars less on average.
The cheapest ticket for the Green Bay at Washington game is under $200, but it's for a nosebleed seat in a stadium much bigger than TCF Bank.
