Fmr Hopkins Star WR Hopes To Ride Blazing Speed To NFL
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Terrell Sinkfield, the Hopkins native and Northern Iowa wide receiver, has a dream -- make it to the NFL.
He was a long shot before he ran the 40-yard dash for scouts and clocked a blazing time, changing his prospects.
And that may just change his life.
"When he goes out and runs an exceptional 40 time, people were surprised," his high school coach John DenHartog said. "But I think he had it in him all the time."
His time of 4.19 seconds in the 40 was off the charts. But he knows he needs more.
So he is training to convince scouts -- and himself -- that he is ready for the next step.
"I haven't been working on speed because I have the speed part," Sinkfield said. "So I've been working on weaknesses to become my strengths so I can become a complete player."
And he knows he has to catch the ball consistently, and run routes the right way. They're things he did in college, just not enough.
"My college coaches knew I could run different routes," Sinkfield said. "But it was the offense that was put it in, because of the quarterback that we had."
He's well aware he will have to prove himself in some NFL camps.
"Everything's fun – this whole process is great," Sinkfield said.
