Fmr. Gopher Michael Carter Hoping For An NFL Invite
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- As NFL training camps begin, there's a forgotten delegation – the players still hoping for an invite.
Former Gopher Michael Carter is in that camp, but he brought in a top-flight tutor to help him out.
Carter's working on getting back to 100 percent after an injury in the Vikings mini-camp cut short his immediate goal.
"I'm about 70 to 80 percent right now," he said. "I had a torn ligament in my foot."
His personal coach is a familiar face and name – Tyrone Carter is his mentor and cousin, and one of the best to wear maroon and gold.
Tyrone won a Super Bowl ring in Pittsburgh, and now wants his cousin to have the same opportunity.
Michael appeared to have a breakout final season for Minnesota.
"I'm feeling very confident in my skills," Michael said.
But this summer is when he's building his body and his state of mind. And if he gets a call, he can thank his cousin for making this summer difficult.
