Fmr. Band Teacher Sentenced For Lewd Notes
BUFFALO (WCCO) -- A former band teacher in Buffalo has been sentenced 10 days in jail for giving disturbing notes to two seventh grade girls in December 2009, according to the Wright County Attorney's Office.
Martin Bartels, 54, apparently sent the notes that described the students' legs and made graphic references to being turned on by them. School leaders told police they spotted Bartels on security video putting something into the lockers.
They tracked his computer while he wrote a third letter. Also on that computer police found what they call a "significant" amount of adult and child pornography.
In January, Bartels resigned as the music teacher at Buffalo Community Middle School.
He pled guilty on Oct. 11, 2010.
In addition to jail time, Bartels will be on probation for a year. If he violates probation, he will serve 80 more days in jail.
