Firefighters Injured In Mpls Church Fire Identified
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The five firefighters injured in Sunday's south Minneapolis church fire have been identified.
The Minneapolis fire department identify the firefighters as 13-year veteran Captain Kathrynne Baumtrog, 33-year veteran Captain Paul Baumtog, 18-year veteran Captain Joe Mattison, 4-year veteran Firefighter Sandy Meredith and 11-year veteran Firefighter Christie Nixon.
Baumtrog is still being treated at Hennepin County Medical Center. Nixon was treated and released Monday and the remaining firefighters were treated and released on the day of the fire.
The Walker United Methodist Church burned down late Sunday night during a storm, and it appears a lightning strike could likely be the cause.
