Fire Damages St. Louis Park Home
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- For the second time in a decade, a home in St. Louis Park was damaged after a fire.
Crews were called to a home in the 3900 block of Basswood Road at about 3 a.m. after the homeowners woke up to the crackling sound of fire.
Authorities said the fire started on the back porch.
Firefighters were able to put it out before the flames got too far inside the home.
St. Louis Park Fire Chief Luke Stemmer says the damage from the fire could top the $1 million mark.
It was a moment of deja vu for the homeowners. Ten years ago, a lightning-sparked fire destroyed their old home at the same address. They tore that home down and built the current one.
It's still unknown what caused this morning's fire.
Crews say the fire does not appear suspicious.
