Fire Damages Hangar At South St. Paul Airport
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A fire damaged a hangar the South St. Paul Airport Monday morning.
Investigators say a man was working on a plane a bit after 10 a.m. when fire spread to the hangar he was in.
At least one plane was towed out of an adjoining hangar to avoid damage, but the fire was put out before it could spread.
"It's open ceilings in this place and so once the fire gets up and gets going, it can spread rapidly, but we were able to get here quickly and get it stopped," South Metro Fire Department's Mark Erickson said.
Investigators say most of the damage was contained to the plane that caught fire and the one hangar.
There were no injuries.
