Fire Chief: Grass Fire Burns More Than 5 Acres In Maplewood
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say dry conditions caused a grass fire to spread quickly Monday afternoon in the Fish Creek area of Maplewood and burn more than 5 acres of grassland.
Neighbors reported seeing smoke in the Fish Creek area at around 1:50 p.m., according to Maplewood Fire Chief Steve Lukin.
He said the fire was confirmed shortly after it was reported in the area, which holds about 80 acres of grass and trees. The fire burned 5.5 acres, but endangered no homes and injured no one.
Firefighters are currently addressing hot spots and cleaning up the area, Lukin said.
