FBI Searches St. Paul Developer's Offices
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The FBI has executed a search warrant at the offices of St. Paul developer Jerry Trooien's company.
FBI spokesman Steve Warfield tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press agents are looking for "evidence of an alleged fraud scheme." He says he could not elaborate.
Warfield says agents began executing the warrant Thursday morning at the offices of JLT Group Inc. and were working with the Internal Revenue Service.
Trooien is best known for his proposed $1.5 billion hotel and retail Bridges of St. Paul project on the Mississippi River that was rejected by the City Council. He filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October.
The phone at Trooien's company was not taking messages Thursday evening.
