Fatal Motorcycle-SUV Crash In Brooklyn Park
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says a motorcyclist ran a red light in Brooklyn Park and collided with an SUV early Sunday evening, resulting in a fatal accident.
According to the State Patrol, around 6 p.m., a motorcyclist on a 2005 Yamaha Road Street was heading northbound on Brooklyn Boulevard and ran a red light at Welcome Avenue North. The motorcycle then collided at a right angle with a 2006 Toyota Rav4 that was in the intersection already.
The motorcyclist was killed. He has been identified as 23-year-old Tyron Somaiah of Crystal, Minn.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as 57-year-old Oudung Thammavongsa of Brooklyn Center, suffered a minor injury.
