MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two Maple Lake people are dead after a head-on crash Tuesday morning on Highway 55 that closed the road for much of the day, according to the State Patrol.

Delano Price, 71, and 80-year-old Lois Price died in a four-car crash near Dempsey Avenue Northwest after their Grand Am, traveling westbound on Highway 55 was rear-ended by a Dodge Dakota.

Danny Brown, 50, of Annandale was driving the Dakota, with 48-year-old passenger Dawn Brown, of Annandale. The Grand Am was pushed by the Dakota into oncoming eastbound traffic as it was turning onto Dempsey Avenue. The Browns' truck then crashed into a Lexus, driven by 43-year-old Tammy Peterson, of Maple Lake.

Danny Brown wasn't hurt, but Dawn Brown suffered a non-life-threatening injury. However, Mary Gelo was seriously injured, and Tammy Peterson is dealing with a non-life-threatening injury.

Highway 55 has since reopened.
