'Fargo' Wood-Chipper On Public Display

FARGO, N.D. (WCCO) -- One of the most iconic movie props in recent years is on display at the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau beginning this weekend. It's the wood-chipper from the scene near the end of "Fargo."
After the movie finished production in the mid-1990s, a crew member bought the wood-chipper for $100.
"He proceeded to use it out on his farm or out in his back yard," said Cole Carley, CEO of the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Those familiar with the movie know the wood-chipper is from a rather gruesome scene in the climax. (WARNING: Link contains graphic content and potential plot spoilers.)
"Unless there's actually illness, injury, death or financial malfeasance, it's all good publicity," Carley said.
The wood-chipper will be on display May 7-15.
The film was written and directed by Ethan and Joel Coen, who are originally from the Twin Cities. Both the Coens and actress Frances McDormand won Oscars for the film.
