Fargo Delivering Extra Sandbags ... Just In Case
FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- The city of Fargo is delivering extra sandbags to residents in case the dikes need to be raised by one foot.
City officials have set the height of the dikes at 41 feet. The National Weather Service has set a crest range between 39 and 40 feet on Sunday or Monday.
Officials say they are delivering the extra bags as an insurance policy. The weather service says there's a chance of up to an inch of rain over the weekend.
Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker says a decision to raise the dikes would likely come on Saturday.
Neighboring Moorhead, Minn., is asking residents to build their dikes to 42 feet. That work is expected to be completed Friday.
