Far-Flung Fans Ready For Snowy Outdoor Game
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Vikings fans are starting early to find seats for Monday's game at TCF Bank Stadium. The gates don't open until 5 p.m., but several fans lingered around the stadium Monday morning to check out the seating.
Fans like Tiffany Meek want to make the most of her trip from Texas, so she and her family will try for the 50-yard line.
"We've come in to watch the game, hopefully to get a seat and experience something we've never experienced," said Meek.
The weather will be a first for Meek. While it's 80 degrees in Texas, the temperature will hover around 20 degrees Monday night, with several inches of snow in the forecast.
"You should see all the body warmers we bought. We'll have them in our pockets down our pants. It'll be fun," said Meet.
For those who don't want to brave the cold, many restaurants and bars are setting up tents to take advantage of the no alcohol rule on the University of Minnesota campus.
"It's going to be a party, game day atmosphere that we usually do at Buffalo Wild Wings," said Brad Pederson of Buffalo Wild Wings. "But (we'll) incorporate some of that tailgating you can't do in the parking lots."
Williams Arena will be open Monday afternoon, for anyone who wants to warm up before the gates open.
