Latest Cities 97 Sampler Sells Out Briskly
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It was a big day around the Twin Cities as one of the most popular CDs of the year hit Target Stores.
The 24th volume of the Cities 97 Sampler was released Thursday morning, causing fans to line up before stores opened to make sure they got their CD. All the proceeds from sales were directed to charity, making it the longest-running non-profit radio CD in the country.
It didn't take long for the Cities 97 Sampler to sell out. Proceeds are on track to exceed $10 million over the course of the project.
Every song on the album is either a live performance or from a concert.
Officials said the charities that will get the proceeds from this year's sales will be determined early in 2013.
