Family Returns To Lakeville Crash Site To Honor 3
LAKEVILLE, Minn. (AP) -- Members of a Lakeville family are returning to a crash site where three loved ones were killed to mark the one-year anniversary of their deaths.
Thirty-four-year-old Debra Ann Buhmann, 71-year-old Shirley Ann Iverson, and 8-year-old Alexis Rose Iverson-Ferkul were killed a year ago Sunday after a car driven by a 17-year-old crossed a center turn lane and entered oncoming traffic.
The teenage driver wasn't using his headlights and was charged with misdemeanor careless driving.
Surviving family members say they support efforts to change the law so prosecutors have the option of filing harsher charges in cases like this.
Family members plan to light candles at 6:52 p.m. Sunday on County Road 50 and Ipava Avenue in Lakeville to mark the crash. Members of the community are invited.
