Family Of Minn. Man Shot By Alaska Police Settles
HOMER, Alaska (AP) -- The federal government has settled with the widow of a Minnesota fugitive who is believed to have shot his infant son at an Alaska airport in 2006 during an attempted arrest.
The Homer Tribune reports the two sides agreed to a $3.5 million settlement. Jason Anderson Jr., two years old at the time, was shot through the eye and now requires 24-hour care.
His father, 31-year-old Jason Anderson, of Duluth, Minn., was sought on drug charges. He was killed in a confrontation with local and federal authorities on March 1, 2006.
Attorneys disagreed about who shot the two-year-old. Forensic experts concluded that Anderson shot his son, but disagreed on where the bullet struck the child.
The bulk of the settlement was put into a trust for Jason Anderson Jr.
