Family Mourning Death Of Slain Orono Doctor
ORONO, Minn. (WCCO/AP) — The family of a prominent Orono doctor killed last week has issued a statement saying they are grieving his loss as they prepare to say goodbye.
Dr. Stephen Larson was shot in his home Friday night. The family said Wednesday they are still trying to comprehend "this sudden and tragic loss."
Family members thanked neighbors, colleagues and authorities. They say that while many questions remain unanswered, they are moving forward with saying goodbye.
"We will always grieve the way Stephen's life ended," the statement reads.
They remember the 74-year-old as a gifted physician and surgeon, a loving father, grandfather and husband. A small, private ceremony is planned. Family members say they'll celebrate "the lives Stephen brought into this world as we mark the unexpected passing of his."
The lone suspect in his death, Ted Hoffstrom, was shot in a confrontation with police.
