Family, Friends Releasing Balloons To Honor Daisy Jo
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The family of a missing toddler released balloons Monday afternoon as a way to say happy birthday and "we'll miss you."
Monday would have been Daisy Jo Holland's second birthday.
Daisy Jo disappeared Friday night while on a camping trip with her family in Elk River.
In response, hundreds of volunteers came out searching the woods and water near where she was last seen.
Then, early Sunday afternoon, a dive team found a body matching her description downstream from the campsite.
Hundreds of people showed up to release balloons and sing "Happy Birthday," including Mark and Abigail Lawrence.
"We actually had a family camping trip planned this weekend, but helped in the search instead," Mark said.
Others came for their own reasons.
"Because I'm a mom. I can't even fathom," Becky said.
