Families Find New Year's Eve Events For Children
(WCCO) -- Celebrating the New Year isn't just for adults. There are a lot of family-friendly New Years Eve events getting underway. For families looking for something to do, here are some suggestions.
Party balloons are being filled with helium for the celebration at the Maple Grove Community Center. There's a lot to do for the whole family. Dancing, an indoor playground, swimming and a whole lot more. Then, a ball drop at 9:45 p.m.
"We're here as a good recreational opportunity to just have fun in a safe environment and a fun environment and really have some good family time and quality time together and I think that just is a real good kick-off for a new year," said Lisa Jost, the Maple Grove Community Center Manager.
For some outdoor fun, the Wells Fargo New Year's Eve WinterSkate is the place to be.
"Pretty nice outside and it's not snowing yet, so we are going to go and have some fun skating," said Angela Clair.
It's a small rink, but just perfect for families with little ones who are just learning to lace up their skates.
"My daughter hasn't been skating before, so we thought we'd try it. We have skates so we're ready to go," said Clair.
To rock out in the New Year, head out to Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America.
The School of Rock Road Crew will perform. Of course there are the rides, food and face painting.
"It's just great with all the rides and lots of people to walk around, lots of things to see. I think it will be exciting," said Kathy Kraemer.
"We've just been kind of going around, a lot of different rides, they're all fun," said her son, John.
