Facebook Post Gets Stillwater Players Suspended
STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) -- A Facebook post of a teddy bear hanging from a noose has gotten four players suspended from the Stillwater girls' hockey team.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the girls got one-game suspensions. The photo of the bear, wearing the No. 34, appeared with the caption "Another successful bear hunt" before Stillwater's game against the White Bear Lake Bears.
In the game, a White Bear Lake player wearing the number 34 suffered a knee injury. Her coach said it appeared to be a freak accident, but Stillwater activities director Rickey Michel says the school doesn't "want our kids to be involved with this stuff."
He did not identify the players nor say whose Facebook page had the picture.
