FAA Investigating McLeod County Plane Crash
WINSTED, Minn. (AP) --
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a small plane crash that killed an 80-year-old man in McLeod County.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office, Robert Ray Kooiman, of Eden Prairie, died at the Hennepin County Medical Center at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The McLeod County Sheriff's Office says the plane went down a quarter of a mile west of the Winsted Airport runway at about 3:15 p.m. Monday.
Kooiman was the pilot. His son and passenger, 54-year-old Randall Robert Kooiman, was taken by helicopter to the medical center, where he was in satisfactory condition Wednesday.
